Production Welding Quality Engineer
The role will provide operational Welding process planning, QA/QC support and ensure Welding Management Systems are consistent with EN 3834 and EN1090 requirements, in addition to any other customer requirements, and that the associated responsibilities for QA/QC are discharged accordingly.
A key activity associated with the position involves project/product welding quality assurance and quality control, ensuring all Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) requirements are satisfied for Project and Business needs and ensuring compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure technical and quality compliance of the welding operations
- To provide technical support to all business areas in welding, welding inspection and associated processes
- Prepare weld & NDT packs in accordance with project requirements and liaise with clients to gain approval where applicable
- Preparation of weld packs for third part testing
- Preparing QITPs forproject and ensuring compliance
- Maintain WPS, PQR and WQ records
- Plan the routing and prepare CAD drawings for production from GA drawings
- Reviewing manufacturing processes and making appropriate recommendations for improvement
- Ensuring that all engineering and manufacturing projects are reviewed with the standards and relevant regulations
- Prepare the weld &ndt pack with routings, drawings etc for production
- Manage and implement engineering changes as required aligned with internal process
- Carry out inspections as required
- Collaborating with internal department, liaising with clients and submitting relevant technical documents and packages
- Ensuring that each project stays within the allocated budget and timeframe
- Prepare & participate in internal and external audits including onsite audits carried out by 3rd party
- Competent Responsible Welding Coordinate (or basic/specialist working toward being competent)
- Comply with company QHSE procedures
- Carry out other tasks as required
REQUIREMENTS
- International Welding Diploma desirable but not required
- Welding and/or Engineering based qualification: C&G/ONC/HNC
- 3-5 years in either Nuclear Engineering or Aerospace/Defence
- Manager/Supervisory experience of Welding inspectors
- Recognised Welding Qualification: CSWIP 3.2
- ‘Competent’ Responsible Welding Coordinator (or basic/specialist working toward Competent)
- Product Audit/Verification of Welding process and associated records
- Ability to interpret Engineering Customer Specifications and Engineering Drawings and define Welding requirements in terms of Resource needs, LQR needs, Acceptance criteria, qualifications and approvals, Processes/procedures needed, Verification methods, Inspection and Test equipment needed
- 5 years min of Weld Inspection Experience (i.e. Approval of Set-up and procedures, and managing the welding process)
- Knowledge and application of CAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Powerpoint
- A positive attitude and willingness to work overtime if required

- Proficient mathematical skills, arithmetic, geometry, algebra and other computation tools that support engineering
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in using 2D& 3D CAD package
- Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards and specifications
- Knowledge of machining and fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of various standards and their application
- Working knowledge of designing pressure equipment to common design codes
