Explore the process and auxiliary duties McMenon supports, then use the product and selection guidance to frame the conversation.
Supported duties
Measurement shaped around the operation
The right measurement approach depends on the fluid, operating conditions, installation and information the operator needs at the point of use.
Process flow measurement
McMenon QBar averaging pitot tubes and Venturi meters are specified for liquid, gas and steam flow measurement. Their published applications include oil production and refining, gas processing and transmission, and other process duties where pressure loss, pipe size and installation conditions need to be understood.
Small, visible flows can help operators check that instrument and equipment support duties are present. The A6 is described for purging control lines and instrument enclosures, while the FAM3200 provides armoured measurement for small gas and liquid flows where a glass tube may not be suitable.
Sampling and analyser systems need a flowmeter selected around the sample fluid or gas, the low-flow range and the installation arrangement. The A6 product information covers fluid sampling, and the FAM3200 is described for gas analysis plants and small liquid or gas flows.
Cooling and utility circuits call for a product matched to the fluid, range and required indication. The FGM1190 provides direct visual indication for suitable clear-water circuits, while the FAM3200 and QBar families cover selected equipment-cooling, water and utility duties within their operating limits.
Oil and gas temperature duties may call for a sensor assembly, thermowell, surface-mounted sensor or multiple measurement points through one vessel entry. McMenon’s temperature range includes TAI assemblies, surface-mount and multipoint solutions, with the final selection matched to the process and installation.
These product pages provide the technical starting point. Final selection should be checked against the complete process data and the required configuration.
Differential Pressure
For process liquids, gases and steam where the primary element, pressure loss and installation arrangement need to be reviewed together.
DP flow measurement
QBar™ Averaging Pitot Tube
A low-pressure-loss solution for liquid, gas and steam flow measurement, with published applications including oil production and refining and gas processing and transmission.
A long-service-life DP meter for liquid, gas and steam measurement, with published applications including oil production and refining, gas processing and transmission, and LNG.
For suitable local, small-flow and auxiliary duties where direct indication, a regulator, alarm or transmitter may be required.
VA flow measurement
A6 Glass Tube Variable Area Flowmeter
Low-capacity liquid and gas measurement for instrument purging, fluid sampling and similar services. ATEX-approved versions are listed for specified variants; confirm the required configuration.
Share these details with the McMenon team to help narrow the suitable product and configuration for your duty.
Operating pressure and temperature
Confirm the normal, minimum and maximum conditions for the duty before selecting the flowmeter, sensor, materials and connection arrangement.
Fluid and material compatibility
Review the fluid phase, composition, viscosity, solids and wetted materials so the selected configuration is suitable for the process medium.
Hazardous-area requirements
Check the hazardous-area classification and required approval against the exact product, options and installation. The A6 information identifies ATEX-approved versions for specified variants, while the temperature range lists IECEx and ATEX options. McMenon can confirm the applicable configuration.
Installation and pressure loss
Pipe size, connections, available straight length, access and allowable pressure loss all affect the practical selection and installation of the measurement system.
Indication, alarms and signals
Decide whether the duty needs local indication, an alarm, a regulator, a 4–20 mA output, HART or another transmitter arrangement before the product is specified.
