Compact
Single sensor element with 2 or more measurement points integrated along its length (Thermocouple Type Elements)

Industrial temperature measurement
Multipoint Temperature Profiling Sensors measure the temperature at different points along its length. These sensors are frequently used in chemical and petrochemical industries because they provide an excellent temperature profile for chemical reactors, catalytic crackers and fractionation towers.
Typical applications

Overview
McMenon multipoint temperature solutions provide high density measurement points with a single point of entry to vessels, reactors or tanks. Enabling acquisition of 2 or more temperature measurements from a single sub assembly at separate positions / lengths.
The measurements can either be all in-line or as multiple individual elements for internal routing within the vessel.
Six basic designs give an outline of the technologies available. Other solutions can be requested from our versatile engineering team. Each solution is specifically designed with the exact end user requirements in mind.
Construction design types
Single sensor element with 2 or more measurement points integrated along its length (Thermocouple Type Elements)
Sensor assembly supplied for installation into existing thermowell or suspended into tank. Typically based around a flexible support strip or central metallic rope.
Fully assembled instruments with integral thermowell with individual internal guide tubes for each sensor.
2 or More Free Elements From a Single Connection Point (Thermocouple or RTD Sensor)

Compact
High element density in compact sensor size utilizing thermocouple sensor elements. e.g. upto 14 individual points in a compact 6mm (1/4”) diameter sensor. Lengths available in excess of 30 metres / (100 ft).
Flexible
Built around a flat central support strip, sensor elements are guided along the length by bridging clips and utilize a leaf spring to hold the sensor element tip against the inner wall of the thermowell for ultimate response and accuracy.

Flexible
Suitable for installation from the top of vertical tanks the individual sensors are grouped around a central metallic rope support spine and can be stabilized with an end weight or shackled to an anchor point built into the vessel.
All styles of flexible multipoints provide the added advantage of being able to be coiled prior to shipment which reduces transportation and storage costs.

Guided Tube
Full thermowell assemblies with internal guide tubes provide significant advantages. The thermowell provides a pressure retaining barrier which means that any individual sensor may be replaced while the process is in service therefore avoiding costly process interruptions. The internal guide tubes ensure the replacement sensor is positioned at the exact original measuring location.

Medusa
This type of assembly consists of multiple individual sensor elements to allow for routing to specific locations within a reactor from a single branch connection port. Each sensor leg may be a single measurement point version, or each leg can be of the compact type element that has multiple measuring points along allowing for very high measurement densities to be achieved.
